You know the post office's motto:
"Rain or shine, snow or sleet, spherical or orthogonal, we deliver your mail!"
I had a spontaneous urge to make a spherical box in which to ship a gift to a friend. I drew a sphere in CAD and split it into equal layers of the thickness of the cardboard I had, then with calipers, a protractor, a carpet knife, scissors and glue, I proceeded to construct. It is 56 layers in total and 9.4 inches in diameter. The center discs have a square cut out in them to make a hollow for the package contents. Total construction time was about 4 hours.
