Beach 40 Transciever - acgrouse - 10-26-2013

I've been told by pretty much everyone to post this, so here goes...
The beach 40 transceiver is a ham radio transmitter designed by VK3YE. It is a dual sideband radio, meaning AM without a carrier. It runs on the 40 meter band, or 7 MHz. The radio is simple, less than 10 transistors and one IC. It's all discrete components except for the LM386, which isn't even necessary. The beauty is in the simplicity. I have opted to add an external amplifier with around 20 watts to boost the 1 watt the transmitter was designed for. The whole radio draws 70 ma receive and around an amp in transmit. Designed for portable use when complete, it should have enough room for a battery when mobile, and a power supply when at your station. Pics and vids after the break.

New video of an actual conversation on the almost boxed up version! This thing covers more than I ever thought it would, and quite well!
