Really Cheap Authentic Arduino Mega 2560 R3 Boards ($15!) - ctcollins9 - 06-15-2015

Hey, I fried my arduino again, Sad. I dropped a wire on the board and it shorted the voltage regulator, so I was looking for a new board again, and I found these, they are authentic arduino mega 2560 boards. They're only $15.

Is it just the voltage regulator that's bad? You could probably get one for pennies from Mouser or Digikey and replace it.

Well, being 13 as I am, I do not have much knowledge about that.

13, smart, and have access to the internet. Doesn't sound like there's anything stopping you. Tongue

Actually, pretty sure the regulators on the Mega boards are SMD so that might be hard to solder, but probably doable.

Well, I have checked into that.........I don't have my soldering iron here at my nutty grandma's house. Still am looking for a place.

I just ordered a handful of $4 Arduino Nanos from China with the non-FTDI serial chip. They would've been $1-$1.50 each, but I wanted the USB cable that came with them. I'll let you know how they compare. From what I found online, with the exception of a different driver they should work just fine. Depending on the project, it's hard to argue with $1 Nanos, $3 Unos, and $8 Megas.

I have 2 Nanos that I ordered from China. Seems to work pretty well.

Now that FTDI isn't bricking counterfeit chips...why not? j/k ;-)

Precisely the reason to aim for a non-FTDI chip. Big Grin
