Lightbulb  This Wednesday December 18th - Cloud Chamber
Tomorrow I am going to bring as much stuff as I can so we can try and build a cloud chamber!

http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~adf4/cloud.html

I have an aquarium, 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, and some felt.

Hopefully we can document the build and take some cool pictures/video

if you have any radioactive rocks, or anything cool we can experiment with, please bring it down.

How did the cloud chamber work out?

unfortunately it failed, my hypothesis is that I didn't have enough dry ice to properly cool the size of chamber that we had.

but we still got to play with dry ice!Smile

this will be a good project to try again shortly

Two magnetron magnets out of old microwave ovens might work so that charged particles like protons, alpha and beta can be easily identified.
